报告摘要:
My talk will engage the audience in the modern development of electron dynamics at the scale of nanometers and below. In particular I discuss a hydrodynamic model of electron dynamics and electron quantum tunneling. We explore the implications of the model outcomes for nonlinear optical experiments by measuring the second- and third-harmonic signals scattered from ultrathin films deposited over metal surfaces.
报告人简介:
Haus is a professor in the Electro-Optics Program since 1999 and served as Director for 13 years. He has joint appointments in with joint appointments in Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has wide ranging research interests including nonlinear and quantum optics and heterogeneous materials. He published more than 200 papers and two books: Fundamentals of Nonlinear Optics, 2nd Ed. and Fundamentals and Applications of Nanophotonics. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, SPIE and American Physical Society, and he is a Senior Member of IEEE. He was honored by a Doctor Honoris Causa (November 2014) – Bestowed from the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica
